Called To Care Committee

Current membership

Currently there are 18 members on the Called to Care team ministering to about 54 home bound individuals and participating in other forms of service to members of the congregation.

When are meetings held and responsibilities?

Monthly meetings are held with the Called to Care volunteers. Birthday greeting cards are addressed and sent to members over 65 years of age. There is also communication with Called to Care members by way of written and oral reports related to the visits they make. In addition, volunteers prepare and send out bereavement mailings for Thanksgiving/”All Saints Sunday” observance, Christmas, Easter, and a summer mailing. The Called to Care volunteers also coordinate with Rev Mundell the “Blue Christmas Healing Service.” Called to Care sponsors invite the communities to attend sessions on Health, Healing, Mind, Body & Spirit.

What is the committee’s purpose?

In caregiving visits, Christians offer respect for others by saying, through words and actions, “You are important to me. I put myself at your disposal. I want to understand and serve you.”  Called to Care is an opportunity for us to love others because God first loved us. As a caregiver in the name of Jesus Christ, we remember the original disciples were sent into the world in a spirit of sincerity and simplicity. We offer a receptive heart and an openness to let God’s spirit work through us.

The Called to Care Ministry conveys faith and hope. It acknowledges that God actively works through us in any visit or relationship. We have a commitment to honor the life experiences of those whom we make contact with. We minister to provide the assurance of God’s presence, healing, and peace in the midst of any life situation.

“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another.
Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples,
if you have love for one another.”

– John 13:34-35, New Revised Standard Version
